Welcome to Local 894 

Laborers Local Union No. 894 chartered in as an affiliate of LIUNA (Laborers’ International Union of North America, AFL-CIO) on March 9, 1936. Located in Washington, D.C., LIUNA has a membership estimated at 750,000 serving the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

Laborers' Local Union No. 894 proudly serves the jurisdiction of Summit, Portage and Medina counties in Northeast Ohio. Headquartered in Akron, Ohio, Local 894 represents approximately 1300 men and women that labor in the building and construction trades industry. Our members provide a skillful and in demand workforce to over 500 signatory Building & Heavy Highway Contractors  

LIUNA requires all new members to participate in a comprehensive apprenticeship program, consisting of 4,000 hours of on-the-job training with an additional 432 hours of classroom training. This program enables members to gain the necessary skills to have a successful career as a Construction Craft Laborer.  

Members of Local Union No. 894 have the opportunity to attend training at the Drexel J. Thrash Training Center in Millwood, Ohio. The center offers an extensive curriculum for members to obtain training and skill certification as they navigate apprenticeship and beyond.  

Laborers Local Union No. 894 holds monthly membership meetings on the second Wednesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. All members in good standing are encouraged to attend and participate in the meetings. Together we remain strong.
