About Local 894

 

WELCOME!

Located in Akron, Ohio, Laborers' LocalUnion No. 894 proudly serves the territorial jurisdiction of Summit, Portage and Medina Counties. Representing approximately 1200 qualified men and women in the Building and Construction trades, utilizing and supplying both Building & Heavy Highway Contractors with committed, skilled, and experienced laborers to over 600 signatory contractors.

Chartered March 9, 1936, Local Union No. 894 is an affiliate of Laborers' International Union of North America, AFL-CIO, in Washington, DC. With a membership estimated at 750,000 serving the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, LIUNA will celebrate an outstanding "100 years" April 13, 2003.

Since its inception, Local Union No. 894 has been affiliated with Tri-County Building & Construction Trades Council, AFL-CIO.

With ongoing participation, Local Union No. 894 members attend the Drexel J. Thrash Training Center, which offers numerous certified technical classes in the most advantageous programs of our construction industry. A state-of-the-art academic institution, it provides a residential campus facility offering an extensive curriculum.

Laborers' Local Union #894 is one of the first Locals in the State to charter a Retirees Council, remaining in existence since June 17, 1993.

Local #894 union meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month at 7:30p.m. in our large meeting hall.

The Retirees meet at noon on the 2nd Wednesday of every month. Lunch is provided at no charge. Come out and meet some of the other retirees, have lunch and catch up on what some of the other retirees are up to.
